Like so many smooth jazz stations around the country, “Colorado's Smooth Sound” K-High 101.9 FM has left the airwaves. It will now be online only.
Apparently the electronic portable people meters have been the death knell for smooth jazz radio.
Nonprofit Christian classic hits radio operator WAY-FM is buying KKHI, licensed to Centennial, from Bustos Media.
According to the station's site:
“The decision to sell the radio station was made by the owners of KKHI, Bustos Media, LLC of Sacramento, CA. This was a business decision, and these types of things happen all the time. As far as K-High's Smooth Jazz programming goes, the Denver staff have decided on our own to keep the station available by continuing the Internet broadcast. Hopefully we will find a new FM home on the Denver radio dial very soon.
